Jutta Jain-Neubauer

Jutta Jain-Neubauer is an independent art historian specialising in the art, architecture, and material culture of the Indian subcontinent. She studied Indian art history at the Universities of Heidelberg and Bonn, where she received her PhD. Her research focuses on water architecture, miniature painting, textiles, jewellery, and the cultural history of India. She is the author of The Stepwells of Gujarat: In Art-historical Perspective; The Ramayana in Pahari Miniature Painting; Feet and Footwear in Indian Culture; and Chandrika: Silver Ornaments of India; and the editor of Water Design: Environment and Histories.
